Sarah’s Story
“A symphony of sacred moments, unexpected detours, and synchronistic connections led me to this work. Five element has redefined my life in the most beautiful way and I want to share it with you.”
My life path has been anything but linear. By nature, I’m a curious person. I love exploring and learning new things, so I’ve enjoyed many plot twists throughout my 4 decades here on earth. I have a BA in psychology from USC, a Master of Education from Lesley University, studied pre-medicine and nursing. I’ve lived and taught in Mexico and Costa Rica, assisted in research on meditation and communication barriers through Stanford’s Pediatric Advocacy Program, worked in OBGYN, and continue to work as an Intuitive reading energy and assisting clients with their own intuition. I welcome clients in spiritual and psychic crisis.
Lyme disease was perhaps my biggest plot twist. I was diagnosed in 2014. My immune and nervous system dysfunction began years prior, but multisystem infections are difficult to identify and treat. I was guided to some talented practitioners who assisted me in tackling my medical challenges, but I had no idea what was in store for me. During the hardest years I went through periods of being bedbound, experienced horrible pain, took a lot of medication, and I felt hopeless. The disease had reached the level of my spirit.
Five-Element Acupuncture found me when I had plateaued on my healing journey after three years of primarily Western medical treatment. I was lucky enough to begin with Peggy Arent, a skilled acupuncturist, who changed my life. My body, mind and spirit experienced healing little by little, helping me in countless ways that each came with immense gratitude and relief. While receiving treatment one day Peggy said, “you’re going to study this.” I didn’t believe her at the time, but she was right.
I started my journey at ACTCM—American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine—after regularly shadowing Peggy in her office. As I continued to heal, experiences in my life seemed to gain a sense of cohesiveness and meaning, reaffirming my decision. I graduated with a doctorate and master’s degree in acupuncture and Chinese medicine around the same time that I completed my official training in Classical Five-Element Acupuncture with Khosrow Khalighi—my current practitioner, mentor and beloved instructor.
My work is my calling. There’s nothing I’d rather do than walk alongside you as you heal and awaken to your truest self. Healing can be messy, and that’s absolutely okay, normal in fact. I respect that you are an individual, that your story and health picture will be just as unique as you are. I’m ready to listen.
